I have a Penguin fish filter that hangs on the back of my 10 gallon tank. It collects calcium in time. Is there something most people have in the house that will easily remove it from the outside of the filter casing when I clean up the tank?

I have a couple of fake plants in my fish tank. I notice they get quite dirty, easily. What would be the best, non-toxic product to clean them with? I’ve used soapy water and rinsed them but it still doesn’t seem to clean them up.
