Freshwater aquarium maintenance is important though it’s quite tedious and involves delicate procedures, maintaining its cleanliness is necessary for fishes to live longer. Fish like other pets do need a healthy and clean surrounding to live with. It is not enough that you have a goal of keeping an aquarium and yet you are not able to clean it regularly. A fish tank can get dirty over time because of some reasons such as accumulated waste materials, algae and other things like leftover foods. It’s always nice to see a clean aquarium not necessarily to be as sparkling one but clean enough for fishes to stay healthy and promote good hygiene in the whole aquarium area. This cleaning task can be difficult at once especially for beginners but it can be fun and fulfilling in the long run. You will truly appreciate its effect after it has been cleaned to make it easier for you here are some helpful tips to follow how to maintain aquarium cleanliness:

Change water at regular intervals
Water inside the aquarium must be checked from time to time to determine if there is a need of re cleaning. Cleaning the aquarium requires a certain level of care so that everything goes well. The first thing to do is remove old water from the tank and transfer fishes from the main tank to the hospital tank for a while. All other objects can be removed as well for the main time to facilitate easier and faster cleaning.

Remove algae and excess dirt
Removing stubborn algae and dirt in the main tank can be easier if there is a routine cleaning done at regular intervals. This may take longer when the aquarium is not properly cleaned up previously. Remove first everything inside the aquarium and start cleaning dirt, it is suggested to use soft sponge especially if you are using acrylic tank so as not to scratch aquarium surface. Algae pads can be used to clean other types of aquarium.

Replace or clean filters
It is better to replace used filters than just cleaning them over and over again. Filters that are cleaned two to three times are advised to be replaced to maximize saving and efficiency. Avoid using detergents or soaps when cleaning aquarium filters because soaps and detergents may contain harmful ingredients that can affect the fishes inside.

Clean other aquarium decors
Clean everything inside the aquarium like small corals and shells. Never use soap or detergents to clean these small articles, soap residue may stay within the area and it may cause harmful damage to your fish. Instead soaked them in warm water mixed with a right amount of salt for a few minutes. After soaking clean excess dirt by scrubbing them with a sponge.

Water Replacement
Replace water after cleaning the tank and other articles inside the aquarium. When everything is clean water must be changed as well otherwise it is still the same dirty surrounding for the fish. Check the pH level of the tap water before filling your aquarium. Regulate the toxicity levels then transfer the fishes and other aquatic plants back into the main tank. Then your aquarium will have a fresh clean look for the next days to come.

Indeed it is good to see a clean and tidy aquarium but please be reminded that cleaning it too often is not advisable also. Since you will be transferring fishes from tank to another, there are tendencies for the fishes to become uneasy and stressed out. A regular cleaning interval is recommended, proper cleaning procedures and extra caution should be done in order to create a healthier, safer and cleaner fish aquarium surrounding.

You must first think about it carefully before undertaking a project of this size as this is perhaps one of the largest tanks that you can feasibly put in your home, and installing a 150 fish gallon tank in your house takes a lot of planning and a lot of patience.

What Species Of Fish Will Be Living In A Tank Of This Size?

You must consider that once you have your 150 fish gallon tank in your home, what type of animal life do you want swimming around in there. Do you want a saltwater reef or some freshwater fish greeting you during the day? Another possibility is having both land and water represented in the large tank, giving the illusion of the beach or a lakefront property. If you decide to have a saltwater environment for your 150 fish gallon tank, there are a few species that make wonderful additions and are easy to look after.

The following species are just a few that would make a lovely addition to any 150 fish gallon tank.

• The Purple Tang : known scientifically as Zebrasoma xanthurus
• Yellow Stripe Maroon Clownfish
• Sea Anemone: Entacmaea quadricolor

These fish would look wonderful in any 150 fish gallon tank. The Purple Tang is very bold and as it is a herbivore it is well equipped to handle just about any plant matter that the reef could throw at it. This fish thrives in tanks of 100 gallons or more, so it should feel right at home in your 150 fish gallon tank. Make sure though that all your fish ‘get on’ with the others, please watch putting it in the tank with other tangs – be they yellow, red, or purple – as these little guys can get quite territorial at times.

The stunning Clownfish has yellow stripes on its forehead, middle section and tail. They are very easy to take care of and would look and feel right at home in your 150 fish gallon tank.

If you decide to have a saltwater 150 fish gallon tank then the sea anemone gets on really well with the clownfish and would survive quite easily in an aquarium of this size. For further advice it is always best to visit a specialist pet store.

Although fish keeping is a very interesting hobby, it has some harmful points too according to a recent research. This news is especially for those who are very passionate about fish keeping. The first infection Mycobacterium marinum was first inflicted upon the people who are in close contact with the fish or the aquarium and its contents.

There is a recent research that there is a certain risk for skin infections for those who are enthusiasts for the fish aquariums. Infection in humans, who were fish aquarium enthusiasts, Mycobacterium marinum was first discovered to be a cause of aquarium fish.

It can survive in both the fresh water and salt water. Also, it is found in most parts of the world. It was also considered to be responsible for skin infection outbreaks in swimming pools. It was because of this reason that strict measures were taken for pool cleanliness and disinfection. Mycobactarium marinum couldn’t survive in a water tank that is well chlorinated.

These human infections are typically associated with trauma. These are particularly caused because of cuts and abrasions through fish spines or like. These injuries are typically confined to the arms and hands of marine workers. Mycobacterium marinum is a type of bacterium that doesn’t grow very well at body temperature. But they are also observed to be there in fish aquariums.

These infections take some time to develop and multiply. It is much very common in children than in adults. Almost half of those who get infected feel the pain.

There are few methods to prevent it:

o Using gloves when handling fish or cleaning fish aquariums.
o Avoid fresh or salt water when you are have open cuts.
o When you have to clean fish, wear heavy leather gloves so as to avoid cuts from their sharp spines.

If you have know-how about fish aquariums then you won’t have much difficulty in maintaining your fish aquarium. You can keep any type of fish in your aquarium if you know how to take care of it. There are small points which you need to know to improve your skills of fish keeping.

An important point is to help the osmoregulation system of the fish. It is the system by which the fish’s body maintains a balance between salt and water concentration.

If you can’t seem to figure out the reason for your fish’s deteriorating health then you need to check the pH and salt concentration of the water in the aquarium. The concentration of salt determines the degree of osmotic pressure. A high concentration results in a higher osmotic pressure. This makes the fish to work more in order to regulate salt level in its body.

The ecosystem from where the fish belongs, determines the degree of osmotic pressure it can withstand. A fish from salty water can bear more osmotic pressure as compared to the one from fresh water. Some of the fish can live in both kinds of water.

After you have finalized about the shape and size of the aquarium and the types and numbers of fish to be put in it, start looking for ways to maintain pH and salt level of the water. By doing this, you’ll make a swift transition from temporary tank to an aquarium.

Therefore, you should keep a check on the water to make sure that its not too salty or if it has too little salt in it. The water should be suitable for the fish so that they grow up and become healthy. The fish are very delicate organisms and if not taken care of properly, can die even before they mature.

Fish are very diverse from one another and look pretty to the eye. Black Moor Goldfish is black-velvet colored and is very beautiful. They are sometimes called as dragon-eye Goldfish because of their very prominent eyes. If you have this fish in your aquarium, then your aquarium is surely very eye-catching.

This type of fish do not need as much care as the as the ordinary goldfish. You can easily look after them. What they need is more space for their movement in the tank because of their high activity. Also, you have to take care about the amount of food you give them. It should neither be too much nor too little. This will make sure that the fish are healthy. If you want to have a combination of colors, then you can add other types of goldfish too.

Goldfish are so active that can actually disturb the gravel or any other substrate you have at the bottom of your tank. The black moors are better for indoor fish aquariums than the outdoor aquariums. The conditions of an indoor aquarium can be easily monitored while that of an outdoor one can change and do not always match with their natural habitat. The black moor goldfish can survive at colder temperatures too. So keep the temperature around 65 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit.

Their pretty bulging eyes make them a bit slow in terms of looking for food. If there are some other faster fish in the aquarium too then you need to see that the black moors get enough food too. Black moor goldfish can grow up to a length of about 25 cm. this will beautify your aquarium even more and easier to handle.

A fish aquarium with lots of colorful fish in it, is a very pleasing thing to watch. Their colors along with their sizes compliment your fish aquarium and make it look more like a moving painting.

Fish community

Choosing fish for your aquarium involves various factors. Before picking any fish you need to understand its needs. You cannot just randomly pick a fish because of its attractive color. Yu have to see if the fish is compatible with the conditions in your tank or not. If the fish are not provided with desired conditions, it will not survive.

There are different levels of fish in the tank; top level, middle level and the bottom level. So, you need to make sure that all of them are getting enough food. Also, the leftover food should be removed as it produces toxins when it deacys. This will prevent any algae formation and hence promote a healthy environment.

If you are a beginner then you need to determine the fish aquarium according to the type of fish you want to purchase. Doing homework before stepping into the market will do you good. Search for some the fish that can get along with each other in similar conditions and also give a good appearance to your aquarium. Whatever type you are going to choose, make sure that you buy at least 4-6 in number. This will help them stay together in colonies and the fish will be more comfortable. Some of the fish that you might want to check out are rasboras, tetras, cherry barbs, blue gouramis, danios, and corydoras catfish.

If you keep all this vital information in mind, you’re sure to set up a very attractive aquarium which has healthy fish moving about in it.

Hobbies are of many sorts but the ones which give you a chance to look into nature are extremely pleasurable. Looking after fish aquariums is one such kind of a hobby. However, it is not easy to look after the fish and other aquatic life that you have kept in your aquarium. For this you need to know about the needs of the fish. Gold fish is one of the most favorites for many people. Here are a few tips to help you in maintaining your aquarium.

Gold fish can survive for as long as 5 to 10 years, depending on the conditions of your fish aquarium.

There should be ample space for the fish to move about. It is important to note that goldfish, being very active, moves here and there

A heater will be needed to regulate the temperature of the tank because the goldfish need a warmer temperature to survive. The temperature should not change drastically as this would be harmful for the fish. So you should have a constant heat supply system with a temperature regulator.

Add a few plants to the aquarium. These will provide shelter for the fish and make the environment closer to their natural habitat. The fish become more comfortable and hence healthier.

A very important thing that you shouldn’t overlook in any case is the refilling of water. After some time, the water becomes stale and algae start growing in it. They are not healthy for the environment as they produce toxins too. So you will have to keep a check about it. Also, if you notice any bad smell around the aquarium, then the water surely needs to be replaced. Also look for any leftover food that starts decaying.

Fish aquariums and fish keeping are an interesting hobby; however, there is a downside to it. The people who are in close contact with the fish aquarium are likely to catch an infection called Mycobacterium marinum.

According to the studies conducted in this field, it has been found that there was a risk of skin diseases caused by close contact with the aquarium. This infection was then figured out to be Mycobacterium marinum.

The bacteria for this disease can be found in the freshwater and cold water i.e. it can survive both water conditions. It is also found in many parts of the world. Many skin infection outbreaks in the swimming pool have been associated with it. This is one of the major reasons for taking care of the cleanliness of the pool. A well-chlorinated pool or water tank can keep this bacterium at bay.

These infections are usually associated with trauma and are caused by the cuts and scratches caused by fish spines. These injuries are typically limited to the hands and arms. Of people who handle fish. This bacterium does not survive really well at body temperatures. However, this Mycobacterium marinum is also found in fish aquariums.

The bacterium takes a little time to cause infection and multiply. The skin infections caused are much common in the kids than in adults. Usually, people who get infected feel the pain from these infections.

You can prevent these infections by following the steps below:

Wear gloves while handling your fish aquarium. For example, take care to wear gloves when you are cleaning the aquarium.

Whenever you have cuts avoid fresh or salt water.

Whenever you have to clean your fish; wear leather gloves so as to avoid cuts and abrasions from the spine of the fish.

If you know about fish and fish aquariums then maintaining an aquarium at home will not be difficult for you. You can easily keep any type of fish in the aquarium. The following article will also help you to find out about the care for your fish aquarium.

You should take care to maintain the balance between salt and water concentration for the fish’s body. This is known as osmoregulation.

If your fish has a deteriorating health then you should check the pH and water concentration in the aquarium. The degree of osmotic pressure in the fish aquarium is determined by the concentration of salt. A higher salt concentration means a higher osmotic pressure. This way, the fish has to work harder to regulate the salt level in its body.

The ecosystem of the fish determines the degree of osmotic pressure the fish can withstand. A saltwater fish can survive a higher osmotic pressure as compared to a freshwater fish. While some of the fish live in saltwater and freshwater.

Once you have decided on the shape of the aquarium and the number of fish that you will have, you need to settle about how you will maintain water pH and salt level of the water in the fish aquarium.

Therefore, you need to know whether the water in the aquarium is too salty or has very little salt in it. There should be adequate amount of salt in the fish aquarium so that the fish can not only survive, but they are healthy too.
