What is a good small tank fish and what plastic tanks are safe?
I’m possibly getting a new fish. I want to get a plastic or glass vase from Walmart and just get a small fish but I only know of one fish that can survive in such a small tank and that’s the Betta. So I need to know what plastics are safe for fish and I want to know if any other fish can survive in such a small tank. Thanks ahead of time!

A Betta fish can not even. No fish can live in plastic tanks or vases. they all need real tanks with heaters and filters and proper weekly water changes and a varied diet. Fish are not toys. how would you like me to lock you in a 6 inch room with no air, lights, a flake or pellet once a day, no heat, and no filter and no toilet? you wouldnt like it either. Niether would the fish. Get a 10 gallon tank and cycle your tank properly. Then get small schooling fish Eg. neon tetras.
Note: goldfish need very large tanks. they are large and messy

Betta fish cannot survive long periods of time in a vase, they need a tank with filtration and a heater.

alright, its a common misconception that betta’s can live and stay healthy in a vase. they are tropical fish from asia, so the water needs to be 76-80 degrees. a filter is also necessary to get rid of the waste it will produce and will keep the water flowing so oxygen can be put into the water. if you are going to get a betta, they need at the bare minimum a 3 gallon tank. i know it seems like its too much since it’s “just a fish”, but in europe, its considered animal cruelty to keep fish in bowls.
