Most important things to learn about beta fish care?
I had some beta fish before, and I was so sad when they died. Even though I tried my best to take care of them, but in the end they still died so quickly. (NO, I did NOT kill them!) I heard from a lot of my friends that some of them can raise their beta fish for years. Any tips on beta fish care? Anyone who knows a lot about beta fish care and raising tons of beta fish at home, please share some advice with me.

First you need an airorator/filter many people believe they can live in stagnet water in a small cup, they cant, at least not for long they slowly starve to death….. stress can also be an issue, make sure there is plenty of cover (plant life dont use plastic plants use either live or cloth as it will cut the fins) i would use either a 5 gal or a 10 gal you can get starter kits for 20 bucks that work great
just make sure you clean/replace part if not all the water at least once a week, use bottled/declorinated water

Buy your betta a proper aquarium with filtration and heating to give them the best chance. A temperature between 77F-82F is best.

Betta fish are good at surviving in small spaces because they breathe oxygen from the surface, but there are a lot of things to consider and it is a lot better to give them a big fish tank instead of a small one. When I first started out, I learned a lot from this website:

It’s a pretty good resource. Recently they had some server problems and had to transfer everything and lost a lot of info stuff. But I think they still have a lot of useful info on. It’s a pretty famous betta fish site. I got a copy of their guide too, and it helped me a lot. Nowadays I hardly have any problems with my betta fishes at all.

Here’s some info on taking care of their diet and stuff that could help you.
Bettas have upturned mouths and are primarily carnivorous surface feeders. In the wild, bettas feed on zooplankton and the larvae of mosquitoes and other insects, such as flies, crickets, or grasshoppers. Bettas which feed on wide range of foods live longer, have richer colors, and heal fin damage more quickly.
Typically, Betta pellets are a combination of mashed shrimp meal, fish meal, brine shrimp, bloodworms, and vitamins. Bettas will also eat live or frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp or daphnia. For variety and fiber, bettas are fed finely-chopped, high-protein vegetables, such as soybeans, green beans, broccoli, corn, and carrots.
Some bettas subsist on dried flaked food suitable for tropical fish, because although this feed reduces their coloring, the bettas are able to digest this better than pellets. However, bettas are carnivorous and therefore require meat products as well. Bettas can get constipated, exhibiting a swollen stomach, when their diet lacks variety.
Some people call them beta, and some people call them betta, but I think I like to call them Fighting Fish.

I have 1 beta fish named buddah at home and i have had it for 4 years and it is still doing great. I think the number one cause for them dying is from using tap water to clean the bowl (once a month or two months) and to fill the bowl. It is okay to clean the bowl with tap water but not to put the fish in or fill the bowl with. They have special water for betas or other fish at the fish store. Also let the special water sit for a couple hours so it goes to room temperature. Also you don’t feed it everyday!!!!! that will get it fat and kill it soon. you buy the little round ball that are smaller than bebes and are made for betas. you feed it monday wednesday and friday (not on weekends) 4 pelets. And also get it one of those little bamboo at the fish store to help the water circulate. The last thing is to get the fake coral made of some plastic of something(the betas like to rub and sleep against it) TIP: sometimes they sleep upside down or sideways but they are not dead so dont worry. GOOK LUCK WITH YOUR BETA HOPE E LIVES LONG AND HAPPY!
